Pedestrian tunnel underneath the havy traffic road at Borgloon
SOCEA supplied the reinforced concrete pipes for the tunnel that was drilled by Hako-Boringen from Stevoort, client is the Flemish Land Agency (VLM). The tunnel is 37 meters long and consists of double reinforced concrete pipes. The project is now finished. The overhead traffic on the N79 has not hampered by the work because of the underground jacking method. The inside diameter of the tunnel is 3.20 meters and outside diameter almost 4 meter. The tunnel connects the town of Borgloon only by footpaths with the countryside and is completely car-free. Borgloon is the first village who realised this in Flanders.
